Jonas Vitaud
Formé par Brigitte Engerer, Jean Koerner et Christian Ivaldi, Jonas Vitaud obtient au Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris quatre premiers prix (piano, musique de chambre, accompagnement au piano, harmonie).
Lauréat de plusieurs concours internationaux tant en soliste qu'en chambriste (Musique de chambre à Lyon, ARD de Munich, Trieste, Beethoven de Vienne), il se produit dans de prestigieux festivals et de grandes salles : Roque d'Anthéron, Piano aux Jacobins, Folle journée de Nantes/Tokyo/Ekaterinburg, Festival de la Chaise Dieu, Théâtre des Champs Élysées et Auditorium de Radio France à Paris, Richard Strauss Festival en Allemagne, iDans d’Istanbul, Summer Festival de Dubrovnik, French May à Hong Kong, Phillips Collection à Washington, Opéra de Varsovie, Flagey à Bruxelles, Oslo Konserthus...
Jonas Vitaud se produit avec des Orchestres comme celui de Mulhouse, Cannes, Toulouse, l’Orchestre Consuelo, l'Orchestre Philarmonique de Moravie, le Sinfonia Varsovia, l'Orchestre de la Radio de Munich, l’Orchestre Symphonique de la Radio de Prague…
Il réserve une place privilégiée pour la musique de chambre et joue avec des artistes tels les chanteuses Karine Deshayes, Sumi Hwang et Yumiko Tanimura, les violoncellistes Victor Julien-Laferrière, Steven Isserlis et Yan Levionnois, les violonistes Mi-Sa Yang et Ragnhild Hemsing, le pianiste Adam Laloum, les clarinettistes Raphaël Sévère et Olivier Patey, les Quatuor Zaïde et Hermès...
Passionné par les musiques actuelles, Jonas Vitaud a travaillé avec des maîtres de la création comme Henri Dutilleux, György Kurtag, Thierry Escaich, Philippe Hersant, Yann Robin, Bruno Ducol.
Ces rencontres témoignent de son ouverture à des langages et des esthétiques très variés.
En 2024, Jonas a notamment créé l’Opus 50 de Bruno Ducol Entre regard et silence, avec la soprano Laura Holm et le comédien Matthieu Marie au Festival Messiaen du pays de la Meije.
Jonas Vitaud a enregistré un grand nombre de disques.
En 2025, paraît un album consacré à la musique pour piano d’Antonin Dvořák chez MIRARE.
Il enregistre en solo avec le label MIRARE et reçoit de nombreuses récompenses, CHOC Classica et Disque du mois de juin 2021 sur APPLE MUSIC CLASSICAL pour son album Beethoven 1802 /
5 de Diapason pour son disque Tchaïkovski / Coup de cœur de la revue PIANISTE et IMPRESSIVE CD d’après The WholeNote (Canada) pour son double album Debussy, jeunes années…
En 2016, il reçoit le GRAND PRIX SOLISTE INSTRUMENTAL de l’Académie Charles Cros (CHOC CLASSICA, 5 de DIAPASON) pour son enregistrement consacré à Dutilleux et Liszt paru chez NoMadMusic.
En musique de chambre, paraissent en 2019 chez MIRARE et ALPHA CLASSICS, respectivement un album consacré à MOZART avec la violoniste Mi-Sa Yang et l’autre dédié au répertoire russe avec le violoncelliste Victor Julien-Laferrière.
Jonas Vitaud enseigne au CNSM de Paris depuis 2013, il est, à partir 2022/2023, professeur de piano.
Jonas est, depuis 2025, directeur artistique du SYROS INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL en Grèce.

Jonas Vitaud was born in 1980 and began studying the piano at the age of six and the organ at eleven. A student of Brigitte Engerer, Jean Koerner and Christian Ivaldi, he obtained four premiers prix (piano, chamber music, piano accompaniment, harmony) at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, and went on to win prizes at several international competitions (Lyon, the ARD-Musikwetteberb in Munich, Trieste, the International Beethoven Piano Competition in Vienna) as both soloist and chamber musician.
Jonas Vitaud continues to give performances in recital and appears regularly at numerous famous festivals in Europe and throughout the world as la Roque d'Anthéron, La Folle Journée in Nantes, Tokyo, Yekaterinburg and Warsaw, the Festival de La Chaise-Dieu, the Goslar festival, the Richard Strauss Festival at Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Germany, Autunno Musicale at Caserta in Italy, iDans in Istanbul, the Dubrovnik Summer Festival, and French May in Hong Kong, and has also performed at the Phillips Collection in Washington.
Jonas Vitaud has appeared as a soloist with such orchestras as the Mulhouse Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre du Capitole and Chamber Orchestra of Toulouse, the Sinfonia Varsovia, the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Munich Radio Orchestra and the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra.
He also accords a privileged place to chamber music. Among the artists with whom he performs are the singers Karine Deshayes, Sumi Hwang and Yumiko Tanimura, the cellists Victor Julien-Laferrière and Christian-Pierre La Marca, the violist Adrien La Marca, the pianist Adam Laloum, the clarinettist Raphaël Sévère, the violinist Mi-Sa Yang and the Quatuor Zaïde.
An enthusiastic champion of contemporary music, Jonas Vitaud has worked with creative masters such as Henri Dutilleux, Thierry Escaich, György Kurtág, Philippe Hersant and Yann Robin. These encounters, notably at the festival in Cordes-sur-Ciel, have given him an opportunity to tackle the great diversity of current musical trends and to develop his imaginative world.
In 2021, Jonas Vitaud releases a Beethoven disc on MIRARE - through a choice of works (composed in 1802 – Heilignestadt testament’s year), he put into perspective the underlying despair of the ‘Tempest’ Sonata, the calming of Opp.33 and 34, and the flamboyant optimism of the ‘Eroica’ Variations.
In 2019, Jonas Vitaud releases on MIRARE and ALPHA CLASSICS, two albums one with Mi-Sa Yang dedicated to the Mozart’s piano and violin sonatas and the other to the Russian repertoire with the cellist Victor Julien-Laferrière.
In 2018, for the Debussy centennial, Jonas Vitaud released a double album on the Mirare label, devoted to the composer’s early years, an original, ambitious project presenting ill-known aspects of Debussy’s universe.
His first solo recording, a Brahms programme, was released on Orchid Classics and [was] warmly received by the critics (Supersonic Pizzicato award, 4* in BBC Music Magazine, etc.). In 2016 he released a Tchaikovsky disc on Mirare – The Seasons and the Grand Sonata, Op.37 – which was awarded ‘5 de Diapason’.
His solo album of music by Dutilleux and Liszt on NoMadMusic was also crowned with critical success and received the Grand Prize for Solo Instrumental Recording of the Académie Charles Cros as well as ‘Choc de Classica’ and ‘5 de Diapason’. He gave numerous tribute concerts devoted to Henri Dutilleux during the year of his centenary in 2016, notably at the Limoges Opera, the Vichy Opera, the national theatres of Douai and Arras, and in London.
Jonas Vitaud has taught at the Paris National Conservatory (CNSMDP) since 2013 and is currently a piano professor.
He is an associate artist of the Singer-Polignac Foundation (www. singerpolignac.org).
